Who Is on the Bench

A studio this size does not need a directory, but it does need clarity about who owns what. Every figure that leaves here has a name attached to it, which is the simplest way to keep the numbers honest.

Nate Brogan

Lead Fitter, Bay One

Nate runs most of the driver and iron sessions and he is the reason the discard rule is written down before a block starts. He spent eleven years fitting in a shop that reported carry as gospel, and he arrived here already convinced that the number needed a caveat attached to it.

He is the person most likely to tell you your current head is fine. Clients who came in expecting to be sold something occasionally find that irritating, and then come back two years later with a friend.

  • Runs Bay One, both instruments live
  • Owns the taped-face habit and enforces it
  • Plays out of Riverridge, mostly in the rain

Teddy Lindqvist

Audit Coordinator

Teddy schedules the Sunday turf blocks between April and September, recruits the panel, keeps the paired-session spreadsheet and derives every figure that ends up on an offset card. If a number on that card is wrong, it is her spreadsheet that is wrong, and she takes that personally.

She is also the one who cancels an audit day when the ground is too soft, usually to the annoyance of everyone who cleared their Sunday. Saturated turf produces a carry figure that means nothing, and a bad pair is worse than no pair.

  • Keeps the paired-block sheet, nine seasons deep
  • Sets the pooling rules for speed bands
  • Will not publish a figure under twelve pairs

Wendell Achterberg

Build Bench

Wendell assembles everything that leaves the building and gauges it afterward. Nothing gets called finished on his bench until the post-build numbers are recorded next to the target numbers, and if a club misses, it goes back in the vise before anyone is telephoned.

He came out of a bicycle workshop rather than a golf shop, which shows in how he treats tolerances and in how thoroughly he documents a repair. He is the person to talk to about ferrules, epoxy joints and why your last reshaft failed.

  • Records before and after figures on every job
  • Handles reshafts, bends, length changes and repairs
  • Keeps the wear count on the bay mats

June Okonkwo

Counter and Scheduling

June answers the phone, books the bays, and asks the two questions that make a session work: which club is bothering you, and how much of your golf happens between November and March. Those answers decide which bench you land on and how long we set aside.

She is also the person who will talk you out of the wrong appointment. A fair number of callers who ring asking for a full bag review leave the call booked into a thirty-minute gauge check instead, and most of them never need more than that.

  • Books every bay; nothing is double-booked
  • Handles component quotes and order status
  • Runs the loaner wedge programme
How We Work

Nobody Here Is Paid on What You Buy

Compensation at Dialed In Lab has no component-sales element in it, in any form. There is no bonus attached to head brands, no spiff on shaft models, and no target for anybody to hit at the end of a quarter.

This is not stated as a virtue. It is stated because it is the only structure under which “your driver is fine, spend the money on wedges” is a sentence the fitter can afford to say out loud, and that sentence is worth more to a client than any recommendation we could make.

One consequence worth knowing

Because nobody is chasing a sale, sessions occasionally end early. If we find your lie angles are the whole problem in the first twenty minutes, we will fix that and send you home rather than fill the remaining hour with testing you do not need.

Who to ask for what

  • Booking, quotes, order status — June
  • Driver, iron and hybrid sessions — Nate
  • Repairs, reshafts and anything on a vise — Wendell
  • Audit seats and the offset table — Teddy
  • An argument about a number on your sheet — whoever signed it

Hold a Bay What Clients Sent Back

Sixty seconds of paperwork, then a bay is yours

Tell us which club is bothering you and roughly when you can get to Chad Drive. We reply with two or three slots and a note about what to bring.
